Design Process
Legato is a musical instruction meaning to play or sing in a smooth, connected manner, with no noticeable gaps or breaks between notes. Derived from the Italian word meaning “tied together”, it creates a seamless flow where one note moves naturally into the next.
Landscape architecture is, by its very nature, a collaborative discipline. It brings together ecology, people, architecture, and place. Every site has its own character and story, and my role is to reveal, strengthen, and give form to that identity.
At Legato, I balance poetry with pragmatism. I take the time to understand client aspirations, budget realities, and project constraints, working collaboratively to create landscapes that are both visionary and achievable. The most successful landscapes are those where every element is thoughtfully connected, resulting in places that feel effortless, enduring, and meaningful.
I’m here to guide you through every stage of the process. You’ll work directly with me, Matt Peacocke, an experienced, qualified, and passionate landscape architect dedicated to helping you realise the full potential of your landscape.
